Fukuda

Hideyuki Fukuda has been working as a trademark attorney over thirty years.  After he worked as a trademark attorney in one of major I.P. firms in Tokyo, he interned at a well-known I.P. firm in Washington, D.C. in the years of 1990 and 1991.  In the meantime, he completed the U.S. Patent Academy.  He also attended legal programs of Harvard Law School (Program of Instruction for Lawyers) and Georgetown Law School (Trademark Law & Copyright Law).

After he returned to Japan, he established the present intellectual property firm together with patent and trademark attorneys.  Since then, he has been representing many domestic and international clients.

His legal expertise is just as broad. His practice spans trademark counseling, searching, filing, and general strategies; design counseling, searching, filing, and general strategies; trademark & design practice before the Patent Office and the Intellectual Property High Court; protection of well-known trademarks; conflict resolution; domain name matters; negotiating and drafting license agreements, and the like; copyright counseling; filing copyright applications. His practice spans trademark design filings overseas.

He was an examination committee member of the Japan Patent (Trademark) Attorneys Examination.

He received an award certificate from the Japan Patent Attorneys Association on July 1, 2008 for the reason that he contributed development of the Japan Patent Attorneys’ System.

He was a chair of INTA-Patent Office Subcommittee from April 2012 to March 2014.

He has also lectured on the laws of trademarks, unfair competition prevention, designs and copyright as a part-time lecturer at Tokai University and Meisei University.
